Amsterdam considers banning pro and anti Wilders demos

Amsterdam city council is considering banning a number of pro and anti Geert Wilders demonstrations scheduled to take place on October 31, the Parool reports on Monday.

City officials feel the risk of violent confrontations is too great if the demonstrations are allowed to go ahead, the paper says.
An unknown number of members of the extreme-right English Defence League are planning to demonstrate in support of Wilders on the city’s Museumplein. This has prompted a number of anti-racist organisations to plan counter demos in the city.
