Young women in finance, education, earn more than men
Young women working in the finance and educational sectors now earn slightly more than men, the national statistics office CBS said on Monday.
Salaries for women aged under 25 are above those earned by men, but the situation reverses with age, the CBS said.
While the wage gap between men and women still exists, it is shrinking, particularly for younger workers, the CBS said.
In 2008, women earned the equivalent of 81% of men’s gross hourly wage. But while the pay gap for the over-45s is as wide as 35%, for youngsters the difference is around 10%, the CBS said.
