Jail for role in Culemborg riots
The 22-year-old man who drove his car at three people in the early hours of New Year’s Day, sparking weeks of disturbances between Moroccan and Moluccan youths in Culemborg, was jailed for 18 months by a court in Arnhem on Tuesday.
The man was found guilty of attempted murder although judges said they accepted he had panicked when his car was attacked by rival youths. Two people in the car were seriously injured when it ploughed into a garden. Three people in the garden were slightly hurt.
Two other youths were earlier jailed for 28 months for attacking an older man.
