CDA spin doctor and former junior defence minister Jack de Vries is in the running to become leader of the party’s parliamentary grouping, according to a number of reports on Monday.

De Vries would take over from Maxime Verhagen, when he joins the next cabinet as expected.
De Vries, who is married, quit politics shortly before the general election after it emerged he was having an affair with a defence ministry aide, against armed forces rules.
