Police seek father of dead Frisian babies
Police announced on Sunday that their first line of enquiry into the deaths of four babies in Friesland will concentrate on finding the father or fathers.
The 25-year-old dental assistant Sietske H was arrested last week following the discovery of the bodies of four babies in a suitcase in the attic of a house in the Frisian village of Nij Beets.
Police say she had the babies between 2002 and 2010 and they are now concentrating on the time line. ‘We are investigating the exact dates of the pregnancies and which men were in the picture at the time based on evidence from witnesses,’ a spokesman said.
If this line of enquiry fails, police are not ruling out dna tests on the local male population. Dna has already been taken from the babies which will show if they all had the same father.
Meeting
On Saturday 200 of the 1,700 villagers attended a meeting about the case. According to mayor Francisca Ravestein, everyone is sad about the deaths and concerned with the fate of the family.
Sietske H lived at home with her parents, who have been questioned about the babies. The parents have now left their home in Nij Beets which has been sealed off during forensic tests.
