Amsterdam police arrest three people over possible kidnapping

Amsterdam police arrested three people on Tuesday evening after a report of a possible kidnapping in the east of the city. A possible victim was found in the suspects’ car, though officers are still investigating whether a kidnapping actually took place.

Police were alerted at around 10.20pm and deployed dozens of vehicles, a helicopter and a drone. A chase along the Insulindeweg ended at the Flevoparkbad swimming pool, where the three occupants of the car were arrested.

Warning shots were fired during the arrests, according to news agency ANP. It is not known where the suspected kidnapping took place.

Officers cordoned off part of the area around the Flevoparkbad and searched the surrounding bushes for evidence. The identities of the suspects and the possible victim have not been released.
