ING books sharp rise in profit
Bank and insurance company ING on Wednesday reported a sharp rise in second quarter earnings. Net profit was €1.09bn, up from €79mln in the year earlier period.
Total income rose 52% to €15.3bn. Shares rose 1.1% at the news.
ING plans to hive off its insurance arm by the end of 2010 as part of a deal with European regulators after receiving state aid during the 2008 financial crisis.
