Senior Corus staff quit the company
Two senior members of staff at the Dutch operations of the Corus steel group have resigned, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Wednesday, quoting internal company documents.
Marjan Oudeman, who stood down as supervisory board member last month – supposedly to concentrate on her role within the Corus executive board – is leaving the firm, as is European long products director Phil Dryden.
The paper says the resignations follow on from Corus owner Tata Steel’s decision to pursue a more integrated strategy, rather than the current divisional-based operation.
Dutch influence
Oudeman, often described as one of the Netherlands’ most powerful businesswomen, has worked for the company for 28 years since it was known as Hoogovens.
In a statement, the Corus works council said it regretted Oudeman’s departure.
‘The last Dutch influence in London has now gone,’ the council said. ‘This is a worrisome development seeing as the coming reorganisation [at Corus] will take place in Europe.’
This week Oudeman was appointed to the supervisory board at ABN Amro, the paper said.
