Dutch luxury car maker Spyker is close to taking over Swedish car maker Saab and Swedish government officials are now involved in the talks, according to various media reports on Monday.

Sweden’s junior economic affairs minister Jöran Hägglund is quoted as telling reporters a deal may be finalised on Monday.
However, Spyker CEP Victor Muller told news agency ANP he had ‘no statement at all’.
The Swedish government has apparently become involved after Muller demanded tough guarantees on a European Investment Bank loan.
Spyker and Saab owner General Motors have been in talks for weeks. According to Bloomberg, the Dutch firm has offered some €354m for Saab in cash and shares.
