Green power subsidies are over-subscribed

Two out of three new subsidy schemes for environment-friendly energy are so popular with the public and industry that they were oversubscribed within one day, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

There will now be a lottery to decide who gets government cash to either generate electricity from biomass (such as wood) or via solar panels, SenterNovem, the organisation in charge of administering the schemes, told the paper.
In total, the goverment has set aside over €910m to subsidise the generation of green power by both private households and industry.
