Some 45% believe in life after death
Nearly 45% of the population believe in life after death, according to a survey conducted for the December issue of the magazine Quest.
And 41% do not believe in the theory of evolution, concludes the survey which was carried out by research agency TNS Nipo.
The survey shows that the better educated are more likely to seek spirituality in the new age or Zen movements rather than the main religions such as Christianity and Islam.
Women (52%) are more religious than men (38%), according to the survey and 12% of those questioned think God is more important than their family.
According to Quest’s Berry Overvelde, the results of the survey have nothing to do with a revival in religious belief. ‘It has never gone away and is still alive and well,’ he tells the magazine.
