€2m demand for Dutch and Japanese hostages
The Somali group that kidnapped a Dutchman and a Japanese woman working for a medical aid organisation in Ethiopia in September has demanded a ransom of €2.3m, reports nrc.next on Thursday.
The kidnappers, who are believed to be holding the hostages in the Somali capital Mogadishu, initially demanded the release of Somali prisoners held in Ethiopian jails but when this was refused, they demanded cash.
