Schiphol to expand business in New York

Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is very likely soon to manage a bigger chunk of JFK airport in New York than it already does, the Financieele Dagblad reports.

Delta Airlines has asked Schiphol to manage its two terminals at JFK. The Dutch airport already manages one terminal at JFK.
‘Delta really wants us to take over the management (of the terminals 2 and 3),’ Schiphol financial director Pieter Verboom was quoted as saying. The deal still has to be approved by the local partners and the airport authorities in New York, he added.
Verboom was speaking at a press conference yesterday to mark the partnership deal between Schiphol and French airport group Aeroports de Paris.
Delta Airlines is a member of Sky Team, an international alliance which also includes Air France-KLM, the biggest customer of Schiphol and Aeroports de Paris. Delta, the US partner of Air France is due to merge with Northwest, the American ally of KLM.
