Foreign investment in Holland stable
Foreign companies continued to invest in the Netherlands last year, with the IT and chemical sectors attracting most new money, according to global research carried out by IBM, reports news agency ANP.
The sustainable energy industry was also a strong growth sector in terms of foreign investment, the research shows.
Research and development and logistics attracted the least money, the report says.
According to IBM, foreign investment remained at its 2006 level in 2007, while world wide, foreign investments fell. The US puts the most money into the Netherlands, followed by the UK and France.
In 2007, foreign investment accounted for 6,200 new jobs, particularly in Amsterdam and the rest of province of Noord Holland. Zuid Holland (Rotterdam) and Noord Brabant (Eindhoven) were also popular with foreign companies.
