Voters in Eindhoven have a choice between just two Labour party (PvdA) supporters, Leen Verbeek and Rob van Gijzel, in January’s referendum on the city’s new mayor.
In Utrecht, a choice between two PvdA candidates resulted in a 10% turnout and was widely seen as a disaster.
