A man who broke into a building in Nederweert, Limburg province, accidently locked the door behind himself and decided to call the police to be set free, local police said on Facebook.

The door slammed shut behind him once he had gained entry, police said. The man had been drinking and, despite trying to talk his way out of his predicament, was taken to the police station and charged.

‘Every once in a while burglars make things very easy for us,’ the police commented.
