A climate activist invited to television talk show Jinek to talk about the new wave of protests, climbed on the table on Tuesday night and attempted to glue himself to the surface.

During a discussion about the Van Gogh soup incident and others in which works of art were targeted by Stop Oil Now campaigners, Jelle de Graaf climbed on the talk show table and stuck his hands to the top with glue.

‘I am going to talk about the climate crisis and the ecological crisis,’ he said. ‘People are going to die Beau,’ he told stand-in presenter Beau van Erven Dorens.

The table was carried away from the studio during the advertising break as De Graaf shouted. He slipped off as studio technicians turned it to the side, while moving his hand freely.

‘I could tell he was nervous and I tried to calm him down,’ Van Erven Dorens said later. ‘I though it was unpleasant, and the other guests could not get a word in. I’m sure his supporters thought it a great stunt but I don’t think you get your message across like this.’
