Three of the five people arrested during a noisy protest outside Friday night’s coronavirus press conference remain in custody, The Hague police said on Saturday.

A group of around 200 demonstrators had gathered on the Turfmarkt, close to where prime minister Mark Rutte and health minister Hugo de Jonge were outlining the new measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Police used water cannon to break up the crowd, after small groups began throwing cobblestones and fireworks at them.

Noisy protests by anti-vaxxers and people opposed to the coronavirus measures have become a permanent accompaniment to the regular press conferences.
