Shell remains the most valuable brand in the Netherlands, followed by accountancy KPMG and banking group ING, according to the latest top 50 ranking by consultancy Brand Finance.

The ranking puts Shell’s brand value at €36.4bn, a rise of 9% on last year.

‘The boost in Shell’s brand value is largely attributable to the brand’s transformation from an oil and gas multinational towards its aim of becoming one of the largest electricity and energy brands globally,’ Brand Finance said.

The ranking also puts telecoms group KPN at the top of the sub-list of strong brands, based on its marketing investment, shareholder equity and performance.
