A couple suspected of conning hotels, restaurants and other businesses out of hundreds of euros have turned themselves in to the police after their photo was placed online.

A hotel in Tubbergen uploaded a photo of the couple in the lobby after they left without paying the €970 bill.

The hotel’s appeal for help in tracing the couple led several other firms to come forward saying the couple had ripped them off as well.

Police said it is unclear where the couple, aged 62 and 53, come from but they are both Dutch in origin.

The couple have been taken into custody until the investigation is completed.
