DIY group Intergamma plans to invest more than €100m in its Gamma and Karwei building supplies stores, web news service Nu.nl reported on Wednesday.

Intergamma, which claims to be the largest DIY group in the Benelux countries with nearly 400 stores, will spend the money on expanding its product range and further increase online sales.

The company has also announced it will buy the 156 Gamma and Karwei stores now operated by its largest franchisee, the Van Neerbos Groep.

Plans will be worked out in the coming months. Intergamma, with annual turnover of €1.7bn, already has a heavy presence on the internet. Its Gamma and Karwei websites have 1.5 million visitors a month, the company said.
