A number of Dutch Turks who live, or used to live, in Zaandam are being asked to undergo a dna test in a last-ditch effort to solve a 25-year-old murder.

In total 133 Dutch Turks will get a letter asking them to take the voluntary test which police hope will provide a link to the killer, the Telegraaf said on Tuesday.

Milica van Doorn was raped and stabbed to death in June 1992 but her killer has never been found. Sperm found on her body has dna links to someone of Turkish origin.

In addition, an eyewitness saw someone ‘who looked Turkish’ cycling away from the spot where Milica’s body was found in Zaandam.

Mass DNA tests earlier led to the killers being identified in two other cold cases. And hundreds of men in Zeeland are also being asked to give up their dna in the hunt for the killer of 11-year-old Nicky Verstappen in 1998.
