Dutch flower and plant exports rose by 7.5% to €3bn in the first five months of the year, website Nu.nl  said on Wednesday.

‘We reached the €3bn milestone earlier than ever,’ sustainable flower export lobby group VGB said.

May was a record month with sales of both flowers and plants 13% higher taking total exports to €733m, the VGB said.

This was partly due to robust sales for Mother’s Day in Germany, the most important export market.  However Mother’s Day sales in France fell below the 2016 figure.
