Dutch speed skater Ireen Wüst is Reuters’ sportswoman of the year following a poll of sports journalists around the globe.
Wüst, voted Dutch sportswoman of the year last week, narrowly beat tennis player Serena Williams to take the title.
Wüst took two gold and three silver medals at this year’s winter Olympics as well as the European and World all-round titles. She first turned out for the Netherlands in 2005 and plans to compete in the 2018 Winter Games as well.
Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy took the men’s title.
