Police discover more marijuana plantations in Randstad region

Police dismantled 1,531 marijuana plantations in the central urban Randstad area of the Netherlands last year, according to electricity supply company Stedin.

Unusual patterns of energy usage are one of the giveaway signs that people are growing marijuana on an industrial basis.

The number of seizures in 2013 is up 12% on the previous year.
