Fundamentalist Christian party leader is most successful MP

Kees van der Staaij, leader of the fundamentalist Christian party SGP, is the most effective MP and has proposed more successful motions and amendments than any other party chief, according to news agency De Persdienst.

Van der Staaij has made eight amendments to draft legislation this year and seven have been adopted, the news agency says. In addition, 21 of his 28 motions have won majority support.

Second on the list is Vera Bergkamp of the D66 liberals and third is Loes Ypma from the Labour party.

Geert Wilders’ anti-immigration PVV is one of the least successful parties, the research shows. Just two of the 30 amendments and 17 of the 389 motions proposed by PVV parliamentarians were adopted.
