Prime minister Rob Jetten is going to become a father next year, he announced on social media on Monday.

He and his partner, Argentinian professional hockey player Nicolás Keenan, wrote on Instagram: “Someone very special is on the way. See you in 2027, little one.”

The couple posted the message with a photo of themselves holding an ultrasound scan.

The pair also posted a picture with the baby’s surrogate mother, named as Lisa.

“There are no words big enough to thank our egg donor, our surrogate mum Lisa and both their families,” they wrote. “None of this would be possible without you.”

The message was written in Dutch, Spanish and English. A statement on the website of Jetten’s party, D66, says the surrogacy is not commercial and that Lisa and the donor, who are both Dutch, are acquaintances of Jetten and Keenan.

“I grew up in a warm and loving environment and now have a fantastic family of my own,” Lisa said in the statement. “With the unconditional support of our loved ones, surrogacy feels like a very special way to contribute to making our dear friends’ dream come true.”
