A 20-year-old man has been arrested in Capelle aan den IJssel on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack, the prosecution service has confirmed.

Police found a sword, two knives and an air pistol at the man’s home when they went to investigate reports that he had been talking about his plans to use them for an attack with “as many victims as possible”.

The man was arrested on October 5, but details were only released today.

He appeared in court last Friday, October 9, where a judge ordered him to be detained for a further 14 days. Police are carrying out further inquiries.
