Monday brings plenty of sun and highs of 21 to 24°. Tuesday is warmer at 23 to 25° in much of the country, though the southeast is cloudier.
Wednesday turns muggy, reaching 24 to 26° with a rising chance of showers later on. Thursday is the warmest day at 25 to 28°, and close to tropical in the southeast, before heavy showers and thunderstorms move in from the afternoon. Some could be severe, with hail and strong gusts, the national weather service KNMI said.
Friday will be cooler, around 19 to 22° with further showers, and the weekend – the last of the meteorological summer, which ends on August 31 – looks cooler still at about 21°.
KNMI had no weather warnings in force as of Sunday evening but says alerts for the Thursday and Friday storms are likely. It issues these up to 48 hours ahead.
