Bomb disposal specialists were called to a house in Rotterdam on Monday evening after a device was found during a police search.

Officers responded to reports of a person with a gun at the house in Voorne, in the Feijenoord district.

No weapons were found, but police cordoned off the area after explosives were found in the garden.

The disposal service EOD took the item away and destroyed it safely in the Kralingse Bos, Rotterdam’s largest urban park.

Police did not give any details of what the device was. Investigations are continuing.
