Nine people have arrested after police seized 586kg of drugs in a raid in a coastal suburb of The Hague.

Armed police guarded the entrance to a block of flats in Zeezwaluwhof, in Duindorp, on Thursday, as officers spent several hours searching the building.

Six people were arrested at the time of the search and three others in the following days. All but one are in custody pending a first court appearance on Wednesday.

The public prosecution service did not release further details of the suspects or charges, citing the ongoing investigation.
