There is plenty of sunshine ahead this weekend, but the days will have a cloudy start and night temperatures will drop sharply, according to weather forecaster Weeronline.

Cloudy skies and mist will soon make way for glorious sunshine on Saturday, apart from coastal areas in the northwest.

Temperatures inland will vary from 18° to 20°, while the Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer and beaches to the west will have to make do with 13° to 15° due to a moderate northerly wind.

Sunday will follow the same pattern, with a cloudy start and sunshine in the afternoon and temperatures between 12° and 18°.

However, Koningsnacht revellers need to take a coat because temperatures will drop to almost freezing in the early hours of Monday morning, Weeronline said.

Koningsdag itself promises to be a mixed bag of sunshine, some high cloud and an occasional light shower. Temperatures will vary between 12° in the coastal regions and 15° to 17° inland.

Temperatures will remain stable from Tuesday, with sunshine and temperatures of 15° to 16° degrees.
