Spain remains top destination for Dutch holidaymakers

More than 22 million passengers travelled to and from Dutch airports over the summer, an increase of 2.7% compared with last year, according to figures published on Thursday by national statistics office CBS.
Despite predictions that Scandinavia would attract more summer tourists because of climate change, Mediterranean destinations continue to dominate, the CBS said.
Spanish airports were the most popular destinations, attracting over three million travellers in total. Barcelona topped the list, followed by Málaga and London Heathrow. Five Spanish airports were among the ten busiest routes.
Three in four travellers flew within Europe, with the US remaining the most popular intercontintental destination.
