More than 200 arrested at pro-Palestinian protest in The Hague

Police say they arrested 205 people on Thursday evening after pro-Palestinian protesters occupied parts of The Hague’s central station, halting train services for several hours.
Demonstrators gathered in the station hall and on platforms, with some going onto the tracks. Police said the atmosphere turned tense and described the protest as going beyond normal boundaries.
Among those arrested, one person was detained for insulting and using violence against police, broadcaster NOS reported.
Earlier in the day, riot police dispersed a group of protesters near the foreign affairs ministry. That protest was held in support of activists from the Gaza flotilla who were detained by Israel on Wednesday.
NS chief executive Wouter Koolmees condemned the disruption on Thursday evening. “Whatever you want to demonstrate for, if you stand on the tracks you endanger not only yourself but also our passengers and staff,” he said.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather in Amsterdam on Sunday for the latest in a string of “red line” marches, calling on the Dutch government to take a tougher line on Israel.
