Ajax fans face ban from Marseille for Champions League match

Ajax have warned their fans not to travel to the club’s Champions League match on September 30 after French authorities said they would not be admitted to the stadium.
The decision was taken in the light of disturbances involving Dutch supporters at French clubs. Ajax said they had appealed to Marseille and local police to change their mind, but warned the French interior ministry was likely to back the decision.
“The advice of authorities in Marseille is not to allow Ajax supporters into the city or the stadium on grounds of public safety and security,” the club wrote on social media site X.

Feyenoord were fined €70,000 after fans let off fireworks in the stadium during both legs of the Conference League semi-final in 2022, which led to Ajax fans being banned from Marseille when the clubs met in the Champions League the following year.
The match in Marseille takes place during the second round of the Champions League group stage, after they begin their campaign with a home match against Internazionale on September 17.
