Wins for Utrecht and AZ in European qualification matches
FC Utrecht began their campaign for a place in this season’s Europa League with a 3-1 away win over Swiss side Servette.
Utrecht are taking part in the third qualification round and, if they win the home leg next week, will meet either Zrinjski Mostar of Bosnia or Icelandic side Breidablik in the play-offs.
In the Conference League qualifying competition, AZ Alkmaar had a comfortable 3-0 home win against FC Vaduz from Liechtenstein. If they win next week, they will meet Levski Sofia from Bulgaria or Sabah FC from Azerbaijan in the play-offs for the group stage.
On Wednesday night, Feyenoord managed a 2-1 win over Fenerbahçe of Turkey in their battle for a place in the Champions League.
PSV and Ajax have automatically qualified for the top-tier European competition.
