Utrecht police release footage of serious sex attack suspect

Police have released images of a man they suspect of a serious sexual assault against a woman in Zeist in the province of Utrecht on Friday.
The photos and footage of the man were made public because, despite more than 70 tips and an extensive search operation, police have not yet found the man.
The victim was attacked in broad daylight on the Prinses Mariannelaan near woodland on the edge of Zeist on Friday afternoon. The man then ran off into the woods.
The perpetrator is described as being 1.80 cm tall and white. He spoke English with an Eastern European accent, police said.
Police think the same man may have tried to attack another woman earlier on Friday. Her cries for help attracted the attention of a man walking his dog, whereupon the suspect ran off into the woods.
Although police originally assumed there were two perpetrators, they are now working on the assumption it was the same man and that he may have changed his shirt between the incidents.
A team of 25 police officers are investigating the case, local broadcaster RTV Utrecht reported. “They are doing their utmost to find out the identity of the suspect and to arrest him,” a spokesman told the broadcaster.
