Police motorcyclist dies after collision with car near Amsterdam

A police officer has died after his motorcycle collided with a car on a provincial road near Amsterdam.
The 39-year-old was on duty but not in uniform when the crash happened on the N326 Gooilandseweg in Weesp at around 11am on Tuesday.
Bystanders attempted to resuscitate the man until emergency services arrived, but he died of his injuries at the scene.
The 56-year-old driver of the car was arrested in what a police spokesman said was a routine procedure. He needed hospital treatment for his injuries.
The road was closed for around six hours while accident investigators examined the crash site.
