Police have arrested a man in connection with a serious sexual attack on a woman in Zeist on Friday.

The release of photos and footage of the alleged perpetrator resulted in several tips, which led to the arrest.

The victim was attacked in broad daylight on the Prinses Mariannelaan near woodland on the edge of Zeist on Friday afternoon. The man then ran off into the woods.

Police think the same man may have tried to attack another woman earlier on Friday. Her cries for help attracted the attention of a man walking his dog, whereupon the suspect ran off into the woods.

Although police originally assumed there were two perpetrators, they are now working on the assumption that it was the same man and that he may have changed his shirt between the incidents.

Police have not commented on the man’s identity.
