Police find body of murdered 17-year-old near Ziggo Dome

Police are looking for witnesses in connection with the probable murder of a 17-year-old girl from Abcoude whose body was found in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Duivendrecht near Amsterdam.
Following a call from a member of the public, police located the body, which showed signs of violence, at 4am near the water’s edge along the Holterbergweg, close to the Johan Cruijff Arena stadium and concert venue Ziggo Dome.
The girl has been named as Lisa by the organisation Namens de Familie, which is supporting her relatives. On Thursday, extra security cameras were placed on the route where she was killed, reported NOS.
Lisa was cycling home from a night out in central Amsterdam with her girlfriends to her home in Abcoude and left at around 3.30am on her own.
Police currently believe she was attacked on the Holterbergweg and is understood to have died as a result of serious violence.
The police investigation included the Burgemeester Stramanweg, a building site adjacent to Ziggo Dome was searched using sniffer dogs while a sweater found in the vicinity was taken for forensic investigation. The area around the slip road the Arena was initially cordoned off.
Police are assuming that they are hunting for a single suspect, possibly on a bike. Anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the Holterbergweg area has been urged to contact the investigation.
