Police in Barcelona have arrested a 34-year-old man suspected of carrying out a series of sexual assaults in Rotterdam.

The man is said to have assaulted at least nine women in December last year and in January this year, striking in the early hours in popular nightlife areas. Police suspected the man, whose nationality was not made public, had left the country.

According to Spanish media, the Mossos d’Esquadra discovered the man, who lived in San Andreu de la Barca district of Barcelona, was on the European wanted list during a routine check last Saturday, which also revealed he had been arrested there in 2019 for a similar offence.

He will now be turned over to the Dutch police.
