Man arrested following fatal shooting at flats in Noord-Brabant

A man has died following a shooting at a block of flats in a village in Noord-Brabant.

Emergency services were called out to the incident in Stampersgat, near Breda, shortly after midnight on Thursday. Police sealed off the area and arrested a man on the landing of the apartment, local media reported.

Forensic teams are examining the area and set up a crime scene outside the apartment. It is not clear if the shooting took place in the flat or on the landing.

One resident said the low-rise complex in Markiezaatstraat was originally built to house elderly people.

“It’s a huge shock for such a small village, but it doesn’t surprise me when you see what sort of characters drive around the neighbourhood,” she said.
