Ajax and OGC Nice have reportedly reached a main agreement on Francesco Farioli’s move to Amsterdam to take over as head coach.

The final details are now being worked out before the three-year deal becomes official. “It is not 100% a done deal but we are very close,” technical director Alex Kroes said. “But it will only be 100% when the deal is signed.

According to media reports, Ajax is paying €1.25 million for Farioli who will be the first foreign coach at Ajax since Denmark’s Morten Olsen in 1997.

Farioli, who took Nice to fifth place in the French premier league this season, is expected to take Daniele Cavalletto (47) and Felipe Sanchez Mateos (38) with him as assistants, broadcaster NOS said.
