Man, 48, arrested over alleged threat at Hilversum media campus
A 48-year-old man has been arrested after police were called to investigate an alleged threat at the Dutch media complex in Hilversum on Monday.
Extra police officers were deployed and a helicopter scanned the site following reports of a “suspicious situation”.
Staff were advised to remain indoors and the security gates at the entrance to the building occupied by news broadcaster NOS were closed.
The operation was scaled down at around lunchtime when police concluded there were no “firm indications” of a threat. On Wednesday a 48-year-old man from the Hilversum area was arrested.
“No further information will be issued because the investigation is ongoing,” a spokesman said.
