A teenager has been arrested for attacking Thierry Baudet, leader of the far right FvD, at an election meeting in Groningen on Monday evening.

The youngster’s age has not been made public but he is a minor, police said. According to local newspaper Tubantia, the boy is 15 and goes to school in the  northern city.

The party has not issued any update on Baudet’s condition after stating on Monday evening he had been treated by a surgeon. “He was hit on the back of the head and next to his eye socket,” the party said on social media.

The party did cancel a campaign meeting that should have taken place in Zwolle later in the evening.

It was the second attack on Baudet in less than a month. In October he was hit with an umbrella ahead of a speech at Ghent university.
