A babysitter arrested for alleged child abuse this summer is also suspected of abusing animals and abusing one of his nephews when he was 11 years old, the public prosecution department said at a preliminary hearing on Monday.

The child’s family went to the police after the story first broke in August.

Julian F is also suspected of abusing a pig and a dog, and a man who is said to have lent his dog to the accused was arrested on Sunday, the department said in court.

The 24-year-old from Schagen in Noord-Holland had worked as a babysitter for at least 11 families around the country and reportedly advertised his services online via Marktplaats since 2019.

He charged far lower fees than most babysitters and reportedly posed in a police uniform, although he has never worked as a police officer.

The animal abuse claims are still being investigated and will form part of a second prosecution, the department said.
