A 34-year-old woman from the Utrecht area has been arrested by police in Germany investigating a murder in the western town of Bonn.

A DNA sample given by the woman matched traces found in an apartment where a 42-year-old man was found dead in November 2017, RTV Utrecht reported.

The woman told police she had an argument with the man but denied being responsible for his death. His body was found by relatives.

Police found her DNA in a Dutch database after efforts to match the sample with women from the local area proved fruitless. They did not disclose why her details were on file.

She was arrested at her home on February 8. German authorities have filed a request for extradition.
