Police have released the names and photographs of two men who escaped from a forensic psychiatric clinic on Tuesday evening.

Luciano Dijkman, 24, and 27-year-old Sherwin Benshomin Windster fled the Pompekliniek in Nijmegen at around 8.30pm in a white VW Golf.

Police confirmed reports in the Gelderlander newspaper that they were helped by accomplices who used a grinder to cut a hole in the perimeter fence.

Dijkman is 1.83m (6ft) tall and was wearing a blue tracksuit when he fled the clinic, while Windster is 1.74m (5ft 8in) and has two gold teeth and a tattoo on his chest.

Dijkman was sentenced to five years in prison in 2021 for his part in an armed robbery, while Windster was jailed for five and a half years in 2019 for extortion and an armed robbery in which one of the victims died.

Police said members of the public should not approach the men but call the information line 0800 6070.
