Healthcare unions have reached agreement on a new pay and conditions deal for community and residential care nurses, the AD reported on Thursday.

The deal gives community nurses and nursing home staff a structural increase of 6.25% over two years and includes agreements on reducing the pressure of work, nursing union NU’91 said.

This includes giving nurses who are not on duty the right to be unavailable, and sets a maximum of five shifts a week, unless people have requested more work.

The deal, which applies to 470,000 people, must first be approved by members.
