Jumbo supermarkets signs deal with Gorillas fast delivery service
Supermarket chain Jumbo has signed a partnership agreement with fast grocery delivery service Gorillas to supply its products in towns and cities in both the Netherlands and Belgium.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The deal covers Jumbo own brand products as well as other branded goods, organic foodstuffs and an assortment of food from the La Place catering chain, which is also owned by Jumbo.
Gorillas already works with supermarket groups in Britain (Tesco) and France (Casino).
Jumbo is also to test selling its own products in some Hema stores. Jumbo, owned by the Van Eerd family, is also joint owner of Hema and Hema products have been sold in Jumbo outlets for some time.
The supermarket group – the second biggest on the Dutch market behind Albert Heijn – said on Monday sales were up 2% last year at €9.9bn, or 4% when full weeks are taken into account.
